New car registrations surge in Lithuania; Volkswagen leads market

Lithuania's new car market experienced a significant upswing in July 2026, with registrations jumping 26.0% to 5,004 vehicles compared to the same period in 2025. This growth marks a strong performance for the automotive sector in the country.

Volkswagen emerged as the top-selling brand, with 1,023 units registered, capturing a substantial share of the market. Skoda followed in second place with 813 registrations, and Toyota secured the third position with 765 vehicles. Among luxury brands, Audi maintained its leading status, registering 238 vehicles.

The data, based on preliminary figures from "AutoTyrimai" analyzing VĮ "Regitra" data, also highlighted a notable increase in electric vehicle (EV) registrations. In July, 430 pure electric vehicles were registered, a 32.3% rise from the previous year. The Toyota bZ4X was the most popular EV model, with 40 units sold.

Across the first seven months of 2026, Lithuania registered a total of 31,217 new light vehicles, an increase of 16.6% compared to the same period in 2025. EV registrations during this period also saw a substantial rise of 53.4%, growing their market share from 5.9% to 7.8%. July also saw the introduction of several new models, including the Jaecoo 7, MG S6, MG S9, Volvo EX60, Xpeng X9, and various Zeekr models.
