New commander takes over Nigerian Army contingent in Guinea-Bissau

The Nigerian Army has completed a routine troop rotation in Guinea-Bissau, with Lieutenant Colonel Afam Junior Chidi assuming command of the contingent serving under the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission. He takes over from Lieutenant Colonel Bibode Clarke, marking the transition from Nigerian Company 4 to Nigerian Company 5.

The handover ceremony occurred on August 3 at the Nigerian Contingent Headquarters in Bissau. In his farewell address, Lieutenant Colonel Clarke described the rotation as a standard procedure designed to enhance operational effectiveness and uphold the professionalism of the Nigerian Army. He expressed gratitude to his team for their support during his one-year tenure, highlighting their contributions to peace, security, and stability in Guinea-Bissau.
