New community courts eyed for Panama's Herrera province

Panama's Minister of Government, Dinoska Montalvo, conducted a working tour of Herrera province to identify suitable locations for new Community Courts. This initiative seeks to enhance public access to a justice system that is more immediate, agile, and effective for citizens.

During her visit, Montalvo toured the district of Santa María, evaluating potential sites in the communities of Los Canelos, El Limón, and Santa María cabecera. She was accompanied by local government officials. In El Limón, she met with local representative Eunino Franco and community judge Margarita Madrid to discuss the functioning of community justice and the area's needs. Franco praised the minister's visit, calling her presence a "blessing" that allowed for firsthand understanding of the community's challenges.

Residents like Concepción Rangel from Santa María also welcomed the minister's visit, expressing gratitude for the apparent interest in promoting development projects within the district. The tour extended to schools in Los Canelos and El Limón, where Montalvo engaged with students and administrators.

The minister's itinerary concluded with an inspection of several corregimientos in the district of Parita. There, she met with Parita's mayor, Osman Bernal, and the municipal council president, Carlos Lobos, to assess possible locations for future Community Courts. Both officials indicated that the district offers several viable options for the development of these new judicial infrastructures.
