New community hall to benefit students

Students at Bhawani Dayal Arya College in Nakasi, Fiji, will now benefit from a new community hall, a significant upgrade after years of holding assemblies in a car park. The nearly $950,000 facility represents the culmination of an 11-year fundraising campaign involving alumni, parents, students, and the broader community.

Principal Ranjeeta Kumar stated that the new hall provides a much-needed safe and enclosed space for various school events. Previously, assemblies, cultural activities, and examinations were conducted outdoors. The project, which began in 2013, was realized through persistent community fundraising efforts, including activities like walkathons.

And they have given their input through different forms of fundraising activities. They had, for example, a walkathon and many different forms of fundraising. And through that accumulation, this particular hall has come up.

Kumar emphasized that the hall is more than just a new building; it is an investment that will benefit students for generations. Former College Manager Arvind Chand highlighted the hall's role in fostering learning, performance, celebration, and skill development. He noted that it symbolizes the confidence of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji, the college's controlling authority, in the education of young people through this substantial investment.

The new hall marks a major milestone in the college's development, offering students a modern environment for learning, personal growth, and participation in activities that support their holistic development.
