New data on nurses' earnings: Median in the highest group exceeds 15,000 PLN

New data from Poland's Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System (AOTMiT), analyzed by Rynek Zdrowia, sheds light on the earnings of nurses across different qualification levels.

The median salary for nurses in the highest qualification group is over 15,305 PLN gross.

The analysis indicates that the median gross salary for nurses in the highest qualification group (Group 2, requiring a master's degree and specialization) stands at 15,305 PLN. For nurses in Group 5 (master's degree or specialization), the median is 12,322 PLN, while those in Group 6 (other nurses) have a median gross salary of 10,920 PLN.

158,872 nurses (72.42%) are employed under an employment contract.

These figures represent median earnings, meaning half of the nurses in each group earn more, and half earn less. The data also shows that maximum salaries can exceed 24,000 PLN gross. The most common salary range for Group 2 nurses is between 15,000-15,500 PLN, for Group 5 it's 12,500-13,000 PLN, and for Group 6 it's 11,000-11,500 PLN.

Minimum wages for nurses, after the July healthcare remuneration adjustment, are: Group 2 – 11,485.59 PLN, Group 5 – 9,081.63 PLN, Group 6 – 8,369.35 PLN.

Salaries are influenced by qualifications, region, and employment type. The data shows that 72.42% of nurses are employed under standard employment contracts, while a significant portion work on service contracts or other agreements. Regional disparities are notable, with provinces like Pomeranian, Opole, and Lower Silesian reporting higher average salaries for Group 2 nurses, while Lublin, Podkarpackie, and Podlaskie show the lowest averages in this group. Similar variations exist for Groups 5 and 6.

The maximum salary for nurses, according to AOTMiT data cited by Rynek Zdrowia, reaches over 24,000 PLN gross.
