New Era for Bandung Raya Transportation Begins with Mastran Project

The Bandung Raya region in Indonesia has officially ushered in a new era of public transportation with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Indonesia Mass Transit Project (Mastran). This initiative marks a significant step towards a modern, integrated, and equitable public transport system for the area.

The Mastran project will introduce a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, with full operations anticipated by 2027. The system will be supported by extensive modern infrastructure, including dedicated bus lanes, hundreds of bus stops, depots, and an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The groundbreaking event, held at the Leuwipanjang Terminal in Bandung City, was attended by key figures including the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, and the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi.

Governor Dedi Mulyadi, known as KDM, stressed the public's need for transportation services that are not only integrated but also fair. "This is a joy for the people of Bandung Raya. He added that modern transportation is about more than just speed; it encompasses excellent, digitized, and interconnected services.

KDM also called for a shift in public behavior, urging users to be more orderly, maintain public facilities, dispose of waste properly, and practice good etiquette in public spaces. He highlighted the government's responsibility to provide excellent services that ensure passenger safety and comfort, including adequate sanitation, well-maintained sidewalks, proper lighting, and enhanced security.
