New Media Spokesperson Appointed for Sri Lanka's Prisons Department

Senaka Palliyatenna has been appointed as the new Media Spokesperson for the Department of Prisons, effective August 9. The announcement was made by the Department of Prisons, confirming his new role in communicating the department's official statements to the media.

Palliyatenna brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He has previously served as the Superintendent of Mahara Prison and as the Director of Training within the prison system. His background includes extensive study and training in the field of drug abuse prevention and rehabilitation, having completed a diploma in Drug Abuse Studies from the University of Colombo.

Further enhancing his expertise, Palliyatenna has undertaken specialized diploma courses in drug abuse prevention in several countries, including India, Thailand, and Malaysia. His academic and professional background suggests a strong focus on addressing issues related to substance abuse within the correctional system. Palliyatenna is also an alumnus of Richmond College in Galle.
