New Poll Puts Su Chiao-hui Ahead of Lee Chuan-chiao in New Taipei Race

Democratic Progressive Party legislator Su Chiao-hui holds a narrow lead over Kuomintang rival Lee Chuan-chiao in a newly released poll for the New Taipei mayoral election.

The survey, released by a third-party organization, gave Su 35.2% support and Lee 34.7%. The result adds another point of contention to the continuing contest for mayor of New Taipei.

Liu Fang-yu, a spokesperson for Su’s campaign, said the team would not mock its opponent when polls showed Su ahead, nor criticize polling organizations when the numbers moved against her. The campaign treats polling from different organizations as a cautious reference, Liu said.

“Observing the trends across the various polls, they all show that New Taipei residents expect a mayor with the ability to execute, creativity and vitality to lead New Taipei into a new era,” Liu said. Su would continue working fully to win support from more residents, she added.
