New Special Crimes Chief Appointed in Indonesia Amidst Corruption Probe

Indonesia's Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has officially appointed Kuntadi as the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). Kuntadi takes over from Febrie Adriansyah, who is currently under investigation as a suspect in a corruption and money laundering case.

In his mandate, Burhanuddin urged Kuntadi to ensure that the ongoing investigations into corruption cases are conducted independently, objectively, transparently, and without bias or external pressure. He stressed the importance of restoring the spirit and courage of the staff within the Special Crimes Directorate.

Burhanuddin also emphasized that the handling of the case involving Febrie Adriansyah and another suspect, Don Ritto, will remain under the purview of a specially appointed nine-prosecutor team. The Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas), Rudi Margono, who previously served as the acting Jampidsus, has been appointed as the coordinator for this team.
