New Taipei City promotes cycling for World Bicycle Day with events and prizes

New Taipei City is set to celebrate World Bicycle Day on June 3 with a city-wide "New Taipei Together Ride" event. Mayor Hou Yu-ih has issued a "Mayor's Letter" inviting city employees and residents to cycle to work or school on that day, promoting a simple yet effective way to conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions.

The city government will host a "New Taipei Together Ride" event at the west lobby of the New Taipei City Hall from 9:50 AM to 12:00 PM on June 3. Attendees who sign the "World Bicycle Day Declaration" will receive limited-edition coffee vouchers. Additionally, those who download the YouBike official app and the YouBike Carbon Savings Pass app can participate in a lucky draw for exclusive gifts like "YouBike lightbox magnets" and "Smile selfie mirrors."

City officials highlighted the growing importance of cycling as a healthy, environmentally friendly, and accessible mode of transportation. The city has been actively improving its cycling infrastructure, including expanding riverside bike paths, enhancing commuting routes, and broadening public bicycle services. These efforts aim to create a safer and more convenient cycling environment, encouraging more residents to incorporate cycling into their daily lives for commuting, leisure, or family outings.
