Taichung International Street Dance Carnival Brings Traffic Controls and Bus Diversions Across Four Areas

Taichung’s 2026 International Street Dance Carnival will turn streets in four areas into performance spaces on Sept. 12 and 13. International dance groups will take part in parades, dance performances and cultural exchanges in Tanzih, Houli, Beitun and North District.

The event will bring extensive traffic controls and bus changes. In Houli, authorities will close both directions of Jiahhou Road between Sanfeng Road and Neidong Road from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 12. Several bus routes, including 155, 888, 813, 813 District, Yellow 18 and 811, will be diverted, with some stops temporarily suspended.

Tanzih will impose controls in two stages. From 8 a.m. to noon, construction of a viewing platform near Tanshow Junior High School will occupy part of the southbound roadside space on Shengli Road, although traffic will continue in both directions. From noon to 7 p.m., the same section will close in both directions. Route 58 will move its terminal to the Zhongshan-Yuantong South Road intersection stop and skip some stops.

Beitun will face the longest restrictions. The northbound lane of Fengle 1st Street will be controlled from 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 until midnight on Sept. 13. On Sept. 13, authorities will also control both directions of Fengle Road, Fengle 1st Street and Fengle 3rd Street from noon to 7 p.m. Routes 65 and 28 will be diverted or have their terminal stops adjusted.

In North District, controls will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 13 along the westbound lane of Taiyuan Road and both directions of Donghan and Suiyuan roads. The city government expects large crowds and urges people to plan routes in advance, follow on-site instructions and check the official event pages for parking, train, bus and diversion information.
