New Taipei City Students Win 3 World Championships at Global Robot Olympiad

Students from New Taipei City have triumphed at the 2026 World Robot Olympiad held in Thailand, bringing home 3 world championships and a total of 7 prestigious awards. A delegation of 8 teams from four schools – Zhonggang Elementary School, Yuchai Elementary School, Yingge Elementary School, and Kang Chiao International School – competed against nearly 400 teams from around the globe.

The young innovators showcased their prowess across multiple categories. Zhonggang Elementary School and Kang Chiao International School clinched world titles in the "Integrated Project (GM) Advanced" category for elementary and junior high divisions, respectively. Yuchai Elementary School secured a world championship in the "Coding Smart Maker" elementary division. Further awards included two silver medals and one bronze medal, alongside an Excellence Award, underscoring the depth of talent and preparation from the New Taipei City contingent.

Students and teachers shared that the journey involved countless redesigns, tests, and revisions. The moment of victory, seeing "Yu-Tsai Team Taiwan" displayed on the big screen and raising the national flag on stage, made all the hard work worthwhile. The competition demanded not only the stability of their creations but also physical stamina, focus, and quick thinking under pressure. Participants also had to present their projects in English to international judges, fostering confidence and practical skills through repeated practice and problem-solving.

New Taipei City's Education Bureau emphasized its dedication to STEAM education since establishing the "STEAM Alliance Headquarters" in 2019. This initiative connects various fabrication education and technology centers across districts, integrating science and technology education into daily life through courses, competitions, and hands-on projects. The students' success at the World Robot Olympiad, following strong performances at the National Science Exhibition, demonstrates the effectiveness of the city's approach to fostering scientific exploration, practical skills, and innovative thinking.
