New Taipei City Wins Five National Awards for Sustainable Development Projects

New Taipei City's commitment to sustainable urban development and high-quality construction has been recognized with five accolades at the prestigious National Excellent Construction Award. The awards celebrate the city's efforts in implementing large-scale development projects that prioritize public spaces, environmental design, and construction excellence.

The city's Department of Land Administration spearheaded several district-based land acquisition and redevelopment projects, including those in the Xintai Wenzaijian, Xindian Shidian (Unit B), and the area surrounding the Ankeng Light Rail K8 station (Unit J). These projects were lauded for their comprehensive public space planning, stringent quality control during construction, and the integration of sustainable environmental designs.

Among the recognized projects, 'Gongqi Park' in the Xintai Wenzaijian redevelopment zone received a Gold Award for Best Planning and Design. Conceptualized as a healing garden, the park recreates the imagery of Wenzaijian's ancient water channels, providing a recreational space for patients and visitors at a nearby hospital. Additionally, the completed 'Zhonghuan Park' secured a Gold Award for Best Construction Quality. This park blends the preservation of craftsmanship culture with ecological education, becoming a popular spot for local residents seeking both learning and leisure since its opening a year ago.

The redevelopment projects for Xindian Shidian (Unit B) and the Ankeng Light Rail K8 station (Unit J) were both honored with Quality Awards for Best Planning and Design. These initiatives are centered around Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), integrating land use with the enhancement of transportation hubs. Furthermore, the completed development project north of Xiulang Bridge in Zhonghe received a Quality Award for Best Construction Quality, acknowledging the team's success in overcoming numerous challenges related to riverbanks and traffic interfaces during construction.

Xu Fengyi, Deputy Director of the New Taipei City Department of Land Administration, emphasized the team's dedication to balancing public construction quality, living environments, and sustainable development. She stated that the department will continue to uphold the principles of 'quality first, sustainable locality,' ensuring that all public construction projects are completed on schedule and to the highest standards.
