New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih inspects Yonghe infrastructure projects

New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih led a delegation to Yonghe District for an action governance tour, focusing on grassroots development and infrastructure upgrades. The visit included the inauguration of the new sports field at Yongping Elementary School and an inspection of the Caoduan Bridge art corridor and surrounding environmental integration project.

Hou highlighted Yonghe's status as the most densely populated district in New Taipei City, underscoring the importance of quality sports facilities and cultural environments for its residents. The newly opened Yongping Elementary School sports field is noted as the first in New Taipei City to integrate a school field, underground parking, and the future Metro Wanda-Zhonghe Line LG05 station. This multi-functional project, a result of collaboration between the Education Bureau, Transportation Bureau, and the school, aims to provide a safer and more comfortable sports venue for students while also addressing parking needs for parents and the local community.

The mayor also inspected the revitalization project around Caoduan Bridge and the Boai art streetscape. Following its renovation, the historic Caoduan Bridge will serve as a pedestrian and cycling link connecting Taipei and New Taipei City. The project also involves activating the underutilized space beneath the bridge and improving the Boai streetscape to create a themed park suitable for all ages, centered around cycling. This initiative aims to connect the Yang Sanlang Museum of Art and the Taipei Kishu An Literature Forest, integrating artistic aesthetics into the riverside environment and streetscape to form a new cultural corridor between the two cities, offering residents a recreational space with both cultural and leisure functions.

During a subsequent meeting with local community leaders and representatives, Mayor Hou detailed Yonghe's ongoing transformation. He mentioned improvements to the Wao-Ting Creek's water environment, the anticipated completion of the Metro Wanda-Zhonghe Line by the end of 2027, and the progress of the Dajian Community urban renewal project, which is the largest public-private partnership in Taiwan. Hou stressed the city government's commitment to addressing urban renewal challenges through public-private cooperation to drive the district's transformation.
