New wave of US attacks on Iran; Iran claims strikes on Kuwait bases

The United States initiated a new series of strikes against Iran overnight, employing a long-range B-1 bomber to hit targets associated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This escalation marks the first use of the B-1 bomber in the ongoing conflict between the two nations, signaling a significant expansion of the US military campaign.

The B-1 bomber, capable of carrying a substantial payload of bombs or cruise missiles, launched its mission from a base in the United Kingdom. While US officials confirmed the use of the bomber, the specific targets and the effectiveness of this mission compared to previous strikes remain unclear. The US Central Command (CentCom) did not initially mention the B-1 mission in its public statements.

In response to the US actions, Iran's army announced that its drones had struck targets at three American bases in Kuwait. According to the Iranian army's press office, these strikes were aimed at ammunition storage, fuel tanks, and munitions depots located at the Al-Doha, Ali Al-Salem, and Arifjan bases. This move by Iran suggests a retaliatory measure against what it termed "continuous arrogance and evil aggressions" from the US.

Meanwhile, Houthi forces in Yemen reported intercepting two Saudi oil tankers that allegedly attempted to violate a naval blockade in the Red Sea. They claimed at least nine ships were forced to turn back from the Bab-al-Mandab strait. Additionally, Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed that an oil tanker caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz following an explosion, with two other tankers reportedly turning back.
