Newborn Baby Found Abandoned in Cardboard Box in Khanh Hoa

Residents in Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam, discovered a newborn baby girl abandoned in a cardboard box. The distressing find occurred early on August 11, 2026, at the corner of a grocery store in Go San village, Nam Ninh Hoa commune.

Locals investigating a suspicious box found the infant, who weighed about 3.4 kilograms. The baby was still attached to her umbilical cord and appeared to have a bluish complexion, suggesting respiratory distress. She was immediately rushed to the Nam Ninh Hoa commune health station for initial treatment.

Following the first aid, the baby was transferred to Ninh Hoa Regional General Hospital for further emergency care. Doctors there provided preliminary treatment for suspected respiratory failure and potential infection. The infant was subsequently moved to Khanh Hoa General Hospital for ongoing medical treatment.

Local authorities in Nam Ninh Hoa commune have confirmed they are investigating the abandonment. They have also issued a public announcement in an effort to locate the baby's relatives. The commune leadership stated that necessary procedures concerning the child's welfare will be carried out according to regulations once the investigation is complete.
