Neymar's family helps Santos overcome FIFA transfer ban

The family of Brazilian football star Neymar has played a crucial role in helping the club Santos overcome a FIFA transfer ban. Through their company, NR Sports, they settled a debt owed to AS Monaco, clearing the way for Santos to once again engage in player transfers.

The outstanding debt stemmed from the transfer of player Jean Lucas. Santos owed approximately 2 million euros, with an additional 32,800 euros in interest. NR Sports, managed by Neymar's parents, promptly covered the required amount, enabling Santos to pay Monaco and have the transfer prohibition lifted.

Santos announced that the club has settled its transfer ban and is free to operate in the transfer market. The agreement was facilitated by NR Sports, which provided immediate financial assistance. This support is linked to a commercial deal where Santos granted NR Sports six advertising slots on its matchday kits, including jerseys, shorts, and socks.

The commercial value of these advertising slots is estimated to be between 2.8 and 3.1 million euros. With the ban now behind them, Santos can freely pursue new players. One reported target is Arthur Melo, a player Neymar himself is reportedly interested in acquiring. Neymar's impending return to Santos in January 2025 appears to have forged a stronger, now financial, bond between the star and the club.
