Nicaragua's 'Electoral Circus' and Rosario Murillo's Power: 'Rotten Fruit'

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has declared that elections will not occur again in the country, a move aimed at preventing the opposition from regaining power. This statement came just hours before a July 19th party event where Ortega proclaimed the end of future elections.

They (the Ortega Murillo) are betting that as long as they don't provoke the United States, she can remain in power, and the United States, in 12 months, if not sooner, will take a stronger stance towards them. The Trump Administration is clear that this is a thieving regime and that it is even stealing from the United States, taking advantage of CAFTA. Therefore, they shouldn't play dumb; they know things are heading in that direction.

Political scientist Manuel Orozco and historian Dora María Téllez have warned that a "electoral circus" is already in motion to ensure the 2027 re-election of the "co-presidents" Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, albeit without any genuine political competition. Orozco revealed that collaborationist parties, including the PLC, ALN, PLI, and APRE, have been instructed to participate in the 2027 vote, which he claims has already been decided in favor of Murillo.

Téllez, a former Sandinista guerrilla, commented that these actions are not signs of strength but rather of political weakness on Murillo's part. Orozco, an investigator at the Inter-American Dialogue, characterized the dynastic succession of Murillo as "rotten fruit." Both analysts discussed the post-July 19th political landscape for the Ortega-Murillo regime in a program broadcast on CONFIDENCIAL's YouTube channel due to television censorship in Nicaragua.

Based on the current signs, possibly next year (2027) they will be on their knees in the Plaza de la Fe because they released a MyR poll that says almost 90% of Nicaraguans are completely happy with the Ortega Murillo regime. Under these conditions, I believe Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo should immediately call for a fair, free, transparent election, because they would win by a landslide according to MyR, and they have to believe it because it is their own polling company.

Orozco suggested that the regime believes it can maintain power as long as it doesn't provoke the United States. He predicted that the U.S. administration, particularly under a potential Trump presidency, would adopt a stronger stance against the "thieving regime" that he claims is exploiting trade agreements like CAFTA. Téllez, meanwhile, speculated that by 2027, the regime might be "on their knees" in the Plaza de la Fe, citing a poll from their own company, MyR, which supposedly shows nearly 90% approval. She noted internal contradictions and a lack of internal support, evidenced by the requirement for public employees to bring inscribed companions to the July 19th event, indicating a "bankruptcy" in internal backing.
