Niebüll's Indoor Pool Modernization Receives 8.7 Million Euros in Funding

The town of Niebüll in northern Germany is set to receive a significant boost for its recreational facilities, with 8.7 million Euros allocated for the comprehensive modernization of its indoor swimming pool. The funding, provided through urban development grants, was announced by Interior Secretary Frederik Hogrefe during the inauguration of the new Südtondern sports hall.

The existing indoor pool, built in 1972, will undergo extensive renovations aimed at significantly improving conditions for swimming sports. Plans include redesigning the roof, facade, and entrance area. Additionally, the changing rooms and shower facilities will be converted to be barrier-free and family-friendly, while the building's technical systems will also be modernized.

This investment in the indoor pool follows closely on the heels of the completion of the new Südtondern sports hall. That project, which replaces an older facility, received 10.5 million Euros from urban development funding. Hogrefe highlighted that the new hall and its redesigned forecourt offer attractive leisure, sports, and exercise opportunities for athletes and residents of all ages in the region, emphasizing a "reimagined" approach rather than a simple replacement.
