Nigeria Extends Condolences to Algeria Over Deadly Road Crash

Nigeria has extended its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Algeria following a tragic road accident that claimed 27 lives and left more than 40 others injured. The Federal Government conveyed its deep sadness over the bus crash, which occurred in Boumerdès Province near El Karma.

The fatal incident happened on Friday, July 31, 2026, as the bus was en route from Sétif to Algiers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, issued a statement expressing Nigeria's sorrow over the loss of life.

Nigeria was deeply saddened by the bus crash, which occurred near El Karma while the vehicle was travelling from Sétif to Algiers on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Nigeria also acknowledged the declaration of three days of national mourning by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in honor of the victims. The Federal Government affirmed its solidarity with Algeria during this period, sharing in the country's grief over the tragic event. Condolences were extended to the families of the victims, with prayers for the peaceful repose of those who perished in the crash. The government also wished the injured a swift recovery, expressing confidence in the resilience of the Algerian people as they navigate this difficult time.
