Nigeria Police Plan 2027 Election Security Roadmap at Owerri Conference

Nigeria's police leadership is proactively planning for the security of the upcoming 2027 General Elections. Senior officers will convene for the sixth Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) from September 21 to 23, 2026, in Owerri, Imo State. The event, themed "Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections," is a collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and Lenders Consult International.

The conference aims to address the persistent question of electoral security in Nigeria by developing a concrete strategy. Senior police officers, policing experts, and stakeholders will examine emerging challenges and formulate practical approaches for safe, peaceful, and credible elections. Discussions will center on intelligence-led policing, police-community partnerships, and the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence into election security operations.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, stated that the NPF is committed to enhancing strategic leadership, professionalism, and operational readiness. The goal is to ensure a secure environment for the 2027 elections, protecting voters, electoral personnel, candidates, materials, and the general public.
