Nigeria’s Junior Female YellowGreens Defeat Host Tanzania for Perfect Group Stage

Nigeria’s Junior Female YellowGreens completed a perfect Group A campaign by defeating hosts Tanzania by 57 runs at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier.

Nigeria scored 133 for seven after choosing to bat at the NTS, TCA Cricket Arena in Dar es Salaam. Omosigho Eguakun led the innings with a composed 50 from 46 balls, including seven boundaries. Peace Usen added 32 from 35 balls, while Deborah Bassey struck 14 from eight deliveries late in the innings.

Eguakun received the Player of the Match award for her performance. Nigeria then produced another disciplined bowling display, limiting Tanzania to 76 for eight in 20 overs. Chisom Okpe took two wickets for 14 runs, and Jennifer Godwin claimed two for nine from two overs. Shola Adekunle added one wicket for nine runs and bowled a maiden over, while Glory Idiahi also took one wicket.

Tanzania struggled to build momentum. Captain Saumu Hussein top-scored with 29 from 40 balls, and Rahma Yahaya made 21. Nigeria had earlier beaten Uganda by four wickets and produced a dominant victory over Malawi. The team will now meet Rwanda, the second-placed side from Group B, in the semifinal.
