Nigeria's National Assembly Houses Over 14,000 Daily, Passes 3,500 Bills in Three Years

Nigeria's National Assembly complex accommodates more than 14,000 individuals daily, according to the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana. This substantial workforce includes career civil servants and legislative aides, excluding lawmakers and the numerous visitors who frequent the premises.

Ogunlana highlighted the significant operational scale of the legislative body. The figure underscores the extensive administrative and support staff required to run the National Assembly. He also noted that in the past three years, both the Senate and the House of Representatives have passed a total of 3,500 bills.

Furthermore, the CNA advocated for the implementation of a special salary scale for legislative aides. This call suggests a recognition of the crucial role these aides play in the legislative process and a potential effort to improve their working conditions and compensation.
