Nigeria to rehabilitate 13 police training institutions

The Federal Government of Nigeria has awarded contracts for the rehabilitation of 13 police training institutions across the country, with the work slated to be completed within three weeks.

This initiative, announced during the 160th meeting of the National Economic Council in Abuja, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, aims to bring the institutions up to standard for the Nigerian Police Force's training programs. The announcement was made via a State House release by Stanley Nkwocha, the media aide to the Vice President.

In addition to the police institution rehabilitation, the Vice President also approved the Revised National Social Protection Policy (NSPP: 2026 – 2030). He called on state governments to align their social protection policies, laws, budgets, and implementation plans with this new framework. The NSPP aims to strengthen coordination, financing, implementation, monitoring, and accountability of social protection initiatives across the federation and proposes the establishment of a National Social Protection Council for oversight.
