Nigeria U17 Women's team coach invites 26 players for World Cup camp

Preparations are underway for Nigeria's U17 women's national football team, the Flamingos, as they gear up for the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup. Head Coach Hakeem Busari has summoned 26 players to the first phase of the final camping, which will take place at the Serob Legacy Hotel in Wuye, Abuja.

The team secured their spot in the global finals by defeating their counterparts from Bénin Republic both home and away in the final round of the African qualification campaign. This marks another appearance for Nigeria in the prestigious tournament.

The FIFA U17 Women's World Cup is scheduled to be staged in Morocco from October 17 to November 7. Since the competition's launch in New Zealand in 2008, Nigeria has consistently participated, missing only the 2018 edition held in Uruguay.

The invited players are expected to report to camp on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The full list includes goalkeepers Ifesinachi Iloh, Mercy Felix, and Precious John; defenders Elizabeth Adesuyi, Esther Stephen, Chidera Oparanmegwa, Azeezat Oduntan, Opeyemi Sunday, Omelogu Precious, Christiana Ogunbunmi, and Taiwo Abdulazeez; midfielders Kaosarat Akanji, Awawu Bashiru, Mary Dustan, Muinat Rotimi, Kate Laniran, Annabelle Olubajo, Grace Akingboye, and Eniola Abdulquadri; and forwards Adebimpe Kashimawo, Harmony Chidi, Mmesoma Uchendu, Istifanus Shavi, Shakirat Sarafa, and Chisom Chukwuemeka.
