Nigerian troops arrest five suspected kidnappers, seize weapons in Yobe

Troops operating under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Nigeria's Yobe State, alongside the Yobe State Hunters Group, have successfully apprehended five individuals suspected of kidnapping. The intelligence-led operation took place in Jegalari Village, Fune Local Government Area.

The operation led to the recovery of three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition and four mobile phones believed to have been used in the suspects’ criminal activities.

Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer for OPHK's Joint Task Force, confirmed the raid was carried out by soldiers from the 233 Battalion, based at the Damaturu Military Cantonment. The operation was prompted by credible intelligence regarding the activities of criminal elements in the area.

During the raid, security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and communication devices. These included three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones believed to have been used by the suspects in their criminal endeavors. The apprehended individuals and the recovered items are now in military custody.
