Nollywood actress Atinuke Kareem dies after battle with cancer

Nollywood actress Atinuke Kareem died after a battle with breast cancer, the Ogun State chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria announced.

Her colleague and TAMPAN Ogun executive governor, Owolabi Ajasa, shared the announcement in a statement on Tuesday. It included a video in which Kareem sought financial assistance and prayers during her illness.

TAMPAN said colleagues, fans and well-wishers had provided financial and moral support during her treatment. In a statement signed by the association’s public relations officer, Femi Solaja, it thanked everyone who contributed money, offered prayers or encouraged Kareem and her family.

The association said her death came despite efforts and prayers, and asked for strength for her family, colleagues and loved ones. Kareem’s death followed the passing of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo, who also died after stage-four cancer, according to the report.
