Okpebholo, Edo PDP, others mourn Orbih

Edo officials and the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party have mourned Daniel Orbih, who chaired the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma.

Governor Monday Okpebholo described Orbih as a bridge-builder and voice of reason. In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Patrick Ebojele, the governor said Orbih’s death was a loss to his family, Edo State and the university community.

Okpebholo praised Orbih’s work in institutional leadership and educational development. He said Orbih helped strengthen ties between the state government and Ambrose Alli University while advancing the institution’s development agenda.

The university management said Orbih’s death had created a painful void at AAU, in Edo State and across Nigeria. It said that, as pro-chancellor and governing council chairman, he focused on the welfare of the university community and advocated academic excellence, good governance, institutional stability and sustainable development.

The Edo PDP called Orbih a prominent statesman whose contributions to the state’s political development and democratic governance remained important. State chairman Nosa Ogieva-Okunbor and secretary Hilary Otsu said his influence extended across communities, institutions and generations, and highlighted his commitment to public leadership and party unity.
