NORAD Intercepts Two Aircraft Near Trump's New Jersey Golf Club

North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) fighter jets intercepted two general aviation aircraft on Sunday for entering restricted airspace near President Donald Trump's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Trump was present at the club for the LIV Golf New York tournament during the incidents.

F-16 fighter jets safely escorted the two aircraft out of the restricted area. These temporary flight restrictions were in place due to the president's presence. NORAD stated that it did not immediately determine if the pilots entered the airspace by mistake, leaving that assessment to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Pilots are generally required to check for such restrictions before flights.

The incidents occurred amid heightened security measures around Bedminster. A third general aviation aircraft also triggered an alert in the restricted zone as Trump prepared to depart. However, this aircraft reestablished communications and followed instructions, preventing the need for NORAD intervention. Reports suggest this third incident may have delayed Trump's departure by approximately 13 minutes.

Video footage captured one of the earlier interceptions, showing an F-16 fighter jet approaching a small aircraft. NORAD had previously warned of its intent to enforce temporary flight restrictions over the region during Trump's visit, a common practice for presidential movements and major events. Pilots are routinely reminded to check Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) for updated flight information and restrictions.
