NORAD intercepts two unauthorized aircraft as Trump watches LIV golf tourney in New Jersey

North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted two general aviation aircraft that violated temporary flight restrictions over Bedminster, New Jersey, on Sunday. President Donald Trump was attending a golf tournament at his Bedminster club at the time.

The command declined to comment on whether the pilots had made a mistake, deferring that determination to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

NORAD declined to say whether the pilots of the two aircraft had made a mistake, saying that it is up to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to make that determination, Reuters reported.

NORAD reminded pilots that they are required to check with the FAA for updates on temporary airspace restrictions. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

In a separate incident, the FAA confirmed it is investigating an air-traffic safety issue involving Marine One, the presidential helicopter carrying Trump. The helicopter had taken off from the White House, and sources told Reuters that air-traffic controllers had not halted commercial flights at a nearby airport as required by policy.
