Norris Dominates Ferrari for Hungarian GP Pole; Hamilton, Antonelli Penalized

Lando Norris claimed pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix, outpacing the Ferrari team in a dominant performance. The McLaren driver's 17th career pole came by a mere twelve-thousandths of a second over his compatriot.

Adding to the drama, Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Antonelli were handed three-place grid penalties after the session concluded. Hamilton, who has a strong record at the Hungaroring, will start fifth after impeding Oscar Piastri. Antonelli, the championship leader, will start seventh for failing to sufficiently slow under yellow flags.

I am very happy to be back on top. It was a tough session and the Ferraris were very fast. It has been tough all weekend but we have been fast and our improvements have helped, it's great to be on pole especially on this track.

Norris expressed his happiness at being back on top, crediting the team's recent upgrades for their improved performance. Despite the penalties, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will start second, with Hamilton's teammate George Russell taking sixth on the grid. The session also marked a positive step for Aston Martin, with Fernando Alonso qualifying for Q2 for the first time this season.
