Norris: "Not perfect, but we have taken a step in the right direction"

Lando Norris topped the timesheets during practice for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Barcelona, signaling a potentially strong weekend for McLaren. Despite securing the best time on Friday, Norris characterized the team's performance as "not perfect, but we have taken a step in the right direction."

The British driver acknowledged the difficult conditions at the Montmeló circuit, citing heat and wind that made driving challenging for all competitors. However, he expressed optimism, stating that McLaren's "base is stronger compared to previous tests." Norris believes the car is operating within a much-improved performance window, which is encouraging for the team.

Looking ahead to qualifying, Norris feels McLaren is positioned to compete with their target rivals. "We will work overnight to find something more; and if we achieve it, we should be in a good position to optimize everything," he stated. Norris, a past winner at Montmeló, aims to build on the team's progress and secure a strong starting position for the race.
