North Sumatra Mental Hospital Launches Digital Teleconsultation and Daycare Rehabilitation

North Sumatra's Prof Dr M Ildrem Mental Hospital is embracing digital transformation with new teleconsultation and daycare rehabilitation programs. These initiatives aim to make mental health services more accessible and reduce the stigma often associated with seeking help.

The teleconsultation service allows individuals to consult with psychologists online, using internet and mobile technology. This offers a private and comfortable way for people to address their mental health concerns without needing to visit the hospital in person. "Teleconsultation is digital-based consultation. Psychology services to improve access to mental health services without having to come to the hospital can get psychology services," said Sri Suriani Purnamawati, the hospital's director.

Complementing the digital outreach, the daycare rehabilitation program focuses on psychosocial rehabilitation. Patients can attend structured activities during the day, fostering social skills and independence without requiring overnight stays. These activities range from religious sessions like recitations and services to skill development, such as painting, tailored to individual interests. "During daycare rehabilitation, there are religious activities, recitations, services, and skills activities. For example, patients who have a hobby of painting, they paint," Sri explained.

To further enhance accessibility, the hospital provides transportation services for patients. This commitment to easy and quality mental healthcare is underscored by the hospital's achievement of Paripurna accreditation, signifying its adherence to high healthcare standards. All these innovative programs are now operational and available to the public.
