Norwegian Digital Directorate Restores Services After Cyberattack

Norway's Digitalization Directorate (Digdir) announced Thursday afternoon that all its digital services have been restored and are functioning normally following a significant cyberattack. The agency confirmed that the situation has stabilized, allowing users to access its platforms without interruption.

The attack, characterized as a denial-of-service (DoS) incident, commenced in the early hours of Monday and persisted until Wednesday evening. During this period, ten critical services were affected, including the widely used ID-porten, MinID, Altinn, and E-innsyn platforms. These services are essential for citizens and businesses interacting with public administration in Norway.

While the primary services have resumed normal operations, Digdir noted that some residual issues persist. Specifically, there are ongoing disruptions related to traffic originating from outside Norway. The directorate stated that its teams are actively working to resolve these remaining problems and will provide further updates as necessary.

The swift response and restoration of services highlight the resilience of Norway's digital infrastructure. However, the incident serves as a reminder of the persistent threats posed by cyberattacks to public sector services.
