Norwegian Foreign Minister Arrives in Islamabad for Official Visit

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide arrived in Islamabad on Thursday, marking the first visit by a Norwegian foreign minister in ten years. His arrival signals a renewed focus on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Norway and Pakistan.

Ambassador Ayesha Ali, Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe), received Eide at the airport. The visit, which runs from August 13-14, is at the invitation of Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The agenda includes comprehensive delegation-level talks covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-Norway relations.

Key discussion points will revolve around expanding bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on trade and investment. Both nations also plan to explore collaboration in critical areas such as climate change, renewable energy, education, and people-to-people contacts. Furthermore, the ministers will exchange views on significant regional and international developments, seeking common ground and potential areas of cooperation.
