Martin Šolar, president of the Slovenian Mountain Association, believes the journey and experiences gained while hiking are more important than reaching the summit. As an instructor of mountain education and a father of four, Šolar emphasizes that a child's spontaneous development in the mountains is key, though reaching a mountain hut at the end can be a pleasant bonus.

Slovenia boasts over 170 mountain huts managed by various hiking societies, with 45 designated as family-friendly.
