NSCDC arrests four suspected drug dealers in Kano, seizes marijuana and other substances

Four men suspected of dealing in illicit drugs have been arrested in Gaida, in Kano State’s Kumbotso Local Government Area, during an operation by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The arrests followed what the NSCDC described as credible intelligence about alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade. Operatives from the corps’ Counter-Terrorism Unit, based in Dorayi Babba in Gwale Local Government Area, carried out the covert operation.

The suspects were identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 35, Rabiu Baffa, 25, Aminu Lawan, 35, and Ibrahim Idris, 33. All are residents of Gaida, the NSCDC said.

Items recovered included four sachets of Pregabalin 300mg capsules, commonly known locally as “PG,” dozens of Diazepam tablets known as “Fara,” three tubes of Oshin Solution, also called “Sholisho,” and three large packs and 20 parcels of suspected marijuana.

NSCDC Kano Commandant Mohammed Agalama warned the public, particularly young people, against selling, distributing and abusing illicit drugs. He described drug abuse as a serious threat to public safety, security and social wellbeing. After a preliminary investigation, the suspects and the recovered items will be handed to the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and legal action. The corps also urged residents to provide confidential information about suspected drug activity.
