NSCDC inaugurates safe school committees, commissions operational vehicles in Abia

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abia State has established new committees focused on discipline and safe schools. The command also unveiled three refurbished operational vehicles, with the state governor, Alex Otti, pledging further support.

During the inauguration in Umuahia, Abia State Commandant Chukwuemeka Odimba stressed the importance of integrity and impartiality to the committee members. He reminded them of the significant trust placed in them to impact their colleagues' careers and welfare. Odimba advised against personal interests, bias, or favoritism that could compromise the committees' integrity. He also emphasized the need for accurate record-keeping, confidentiality, timely reports, and recommendations aligned with the corps' ethics and regulations.

Odimba expressed confidence in the committees' ability to perform their duties effectively and contribute to the state command's administration, citing their collective experience and commitment. He also thanked Governor Otti for his support, noting that the governor had provided five vehicles within six months and promised more, recognizing the importance of security. Otti's contributions to the command include providing water, an observation point, land for a headquarters, and sponsoring personnel for capacity-building programs.

The Chairman of the committees, Deputy Commandant Operations Ogota Emmanuel, assured residents that the NSCDC, through these new structures, would work to ensure the state's safety.
