Osun Speaker Petitions IGP Over Alleged Death Threats From APC Reps Candidate

Osun State Assembly Speaker Adewale Egbedun has formally petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, concerning alleged death threats issued against him and others by an All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate and a serving senator. Egbedun stated that his lawyers submitted the petition, emphasizing that the action is not about political vendetta but about protecting lives and upholding democratic integrity.

My lawyers have submitted a formal petition to the Inspector-General of Police and the appropriate authorities on this matter.

The speaker specifically cited threats attributed to Senator Francis Fadahunsi and APC candidate Francis Eniade for the Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency. These threats, he claims, are directed at individuals who are not members or supporters of the APC, warning of violence and death.

I am optimistic that the Inspector-General of Police will act swiftly, investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that it is not swept under the carpet.

Egbedun stressed that no threat to life should be taken lightly, regardless of political affiliation. He expressed confidence in the Inspector General's swift and thorough investigation, urging that the matter not be dismissed. He also called for peaceful elections and assured Osun residents of continued efforts to protect their safety and voting rights through lawful means.
