NU Leader KH Marsudi Syuhud Backed for Top Position

As the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Muktamar approaches, scheduled for August 27-31, 2026, in Jombang, East Java, support is mounting for KH Marsudi Syuhud to assume the role of General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU).

Eko Santoso, Chairman of the PCNU Kabupaten Landak in West Kalimantan, is among those backing Kiai Marsudi. Santoso emphasizes that Kiai Marsudi possesses the necessary capacity, experience, and a comprehensive leadership background to guide NU, Indonesia's largest Islamic organization. He noted that Kiai Marsudi's qualifications are evident not only in his past positions but also in his long-standing contributions to religious, national, and international affairs.

His role extends beyond the regional level to national and even international spheres," Santoso stated. A significant strength highlighted is Kiai Marsudi's ability to mediate between the diverse interests of the community, the nation, and the state. His active involvement in various strategic issues concerning Muslims and the nation as the Deputy General Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) is seen as crucial preparation for the complex challenges NU faces today.
