NU Scholars Strengthen Scholarly Tradition with Book Study

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) leaders and scholars across East Java convened at the Darul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Jombang to deepen their scholarly traditions through a study session of KH Zulfa Mustofa's work, "Ithafu Ummatil Muqtafa." This initiative aims to reinforce the intellectual heritage that has long characterized NU, a prominent Islamic organization in Indonesia.

The event, strategically timed ahead of the National Conference (Munas) and Grand Conference (Konbes) NU 2026 to be held in Kediri, brought together officials from various NU regional branches (PCNU) in East Java, pesantren leaders, and Islamic studies enthusiasts. The session featured the author, KH Zulfa Mustofa, and KH Afifuddin Muhajir, Deputy Rais Aam of the Central NU Board (PBNU), as speakers. This academic forum is considered a crucial effort to maintain and revitalize the intellectual culture within NU.

In an era of evolving challenges and organizational dynamics, strengthening the scholarly tradition of Islamic boarding schools is deemed essential. This ensures that NU remains capable of addressing societal needs by grounding its responses in the rich tapestry of classical Islamic scholarship. The "Ithafu Ummatil Muqtafa" itself represents a significant scholarly achievement, with KH Zulfa Mustofa dedicating approximately eight years to its completion, beginning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

KH Zulfa Mustofa highlighted Jombang's role in the broader NU events, noting the participation of Universitas Pesantren Tinggi Darul Ulum (Unipdu) and the Darul Ulum Foundation. He expressed hope that the efforts of the scholars and the pesantren community would continue to bring blessings to the community and the nation. The book's study underscores NU's commitment to its intellectual roots while engaging with contemporary issues.
