Student Body Head: Bribery Allegations Damage Purity of Student Movements

The head of the Bogor Agricultural University Student Executive Body (BEM KM IPB) has voiced strong criticism regarding the alleged bribery involving the chairman of the Student Executive Body of Bung Karno University's Faculty of Law (BEM FH UBK). Muhammad Abdan Rofid, president of BEM KM IPB, stated that the accusations against Muhammad Abdi Maludin have "severely damaged the purity of student movements." He emphasized that these movements should be founded on idealism and the interests of the people, not on "pragmatic or transactional interests."

BEM KM IPB explicitly rejects all forms of opportunistic, transactional, or pragmatic political practices that could undermine the independence of student movements. However, Abdan stressed the importance of an objective and transparent legal process to investigate the allegations, ensuring that the case does not lead to generalizations that harm the entire student movement. He also highlighted the necessity of transparency in funding for student demonstrations, citing BEM KM IPB's practice of providing post-action reports detailing activities, funding sources, and budget usage from collective donations to maintain public trust and accountability.
