Nuevo León Governor Opens New Road Connecting Two Dams

Nuevo León Governor Samuel García has inaugurated a new roadway designed to enhance connectivity between the Cerro Prieto and León dams in the state's citrus-growing region. The new infrastructure promises to significantly cut travel times for visitors journeying from the Monterrey metropolitan area to these popular recreational spots.

Accompanied by Mariana Rodríguez Cantú, head of AMAR a Nuevo León, García toured the newly completed road. Officials highlighted its role in facilitating access for residents and tourists interested in the area's natural beauty and recreational potential, including fishing and leisure activities.

This infrastructure will allow for reduced travel times from the metropolitan area of Monterrey to the dams in the region, in addition to generating new options for those who practice fishing or seek leisure spaces.

This project is part of a broader 50-kilometer road network initiative. It includes approximately 30 kilometers of new highway starting from the Montemorelos junction and an additional 20 kilometers leading to the dam's main structure. Governor García stated that this infrastructure will foster tourism and fishing circuits, linking various attractions within the region.

Further developments at the León Dam State Park include an access arch, an internal double-lane road, and a boat launch. Future plans involve constructing a viewpoint at the dam's crest for visitors to enjoy the natural landscape and a new space for family gatherings. Additionally, a 27-kilometer access road to the park is underway, aiming to improve visitor access and stimulate local tourism development. The governor also mentioned ongoing efforts to add amenities such as restrooms, shops, grills, palapas, pools, and playgrounds to make the dams more accessible and enjoyable for the public.
