Nur Jazlan reappointed Deputy President of Dewan Negara

Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed has been reappointed as the Deputy President of the Dewan Negara, Malaysia's Senate. The announcement was made by the President of the Dewan Negara, Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, following a process where only one nomination was received for the position.

This reappointment marks Nur Jazlan's return to the role he previously held. His term as a Senator for the second time began on June 15 and will continue until June 14, 2029. The nomination for his position as Deputy President was proposed by the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Nur Jazlan, who also serves as the Head of UMNO Pulai Division, was first appointed as Deputy President of the Dewan Negara on June 19, 2023. In that election, he secured 43 votes, defeating Datuk Razali Idris, the Information Chief of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

During the same session, Mussodak Ahmad also took the oath for his second term as a Senator, which commenced on March 20 and will conclude on March 19, 2029. The President of the Dewan Negara welcomed the election results at the beginning of the Senate session.
