Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang meets US officials as scrutiny grows over China chip access

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is in Washington this week for meetings with US officials and lawmakers, as concerns grow over the use of the company's advanced processors in China.

Reports indicate that Nvidia's export-controlled chips have been utilized to train sophisticated artificial intelligence models within China. Huang met with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Tuesday, according to Axios, though neither the Commerce Department nor Nvidia confirmed the meeting or its specific purpose.

An Nvidia spokesperson stated that Huang's visit is intended to discuss Nvidia's contributions to strengthening the US supply chain, including a commitment to producing $500 billion in American technology over four years. The discussions also focus on maintaining American leadership in AI, particularly in open-source development. US export controls currently restrict the sale of Nvidia's most advanced processors to China.
