Nvidia, Microsoft, and other major tech companies are publicly advocating for open-source artificial intelligence models, entering a critical debate over the control of powerful AI technology. Hugging Face, an AI coding collaboration site, recently reported using a Chinese open-source model to defend against a cyberattack because closed-source models had limitations for cybersecurity work. This incident occurred as U.S. lawmakers, alarmed by a rogue OpenAI cyberattack, proposed legislation for an AI "kill switch."
