Obidient Connect Texas Announces Houston Rally to Mobilize Diaspora Support

Obidient Connect Texas will hold a rally in Houston on Oct. 10 as it seeks to turn support among Nigerians in the state into organized participation ahead of Nigeria's 2027 presidential election.

The event will take place at George Bush Park, 16756 Westheimer Parkway, at noon. Organizers said it would promote registration on ObidientConnect.com, expand grassroots organization and encourage lawful diaspora contributions for citizen-led electoral work before the Jan. 16, 2027 vote.

Our goal is simple but urgent: to ensure that the will of the people is not only expressed but protected and counted on 16 January 2027.

Obidient Connect was developed by the Prof. Pat Utomi-led Big Tent Coalition to organize supporters at polling-unit level, engage the diaspora and strengthen vote protection and electoral transparency. The Texas chapter has been tasked with raising awareness, encouraging registration and coordinating lawful fundraising among Nigerians in the state.

The Houston program will include goodwill messages from Peter Obi, the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, and Utomi, along with platform briefings, live registration support and instructions on official donation channels. Organizers said participants would be urged to avoid informal collections and use only the designated platform. Osemene said each registration and lawful contribution would strengthen citizens' ability to participate in, observe and protect the electoral process.
