Former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed has been granted bail by a court in the United Arab Emirates, according to Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed. The bail comes with the condition that Ahmed must remain within the UAE, although the complete details of the bail terms are yet to be fully disclosed.

The Home Minister stated that he has requested relevant authorities to obtain a certified copy of the court's order to understand the precise conditions attached to the bail. This development follows the Bangladeshi government's earlier appointment of a law firm in the UAE, tasked with pursuing the cancellation of Benazir Ahmed's bail.

Sources familiar with the matter indicate that the UAE court granted Ahmed bail last Thursday. His arrest in Dubai occurred in June, subsequent to an Interpol Red Notice being issued at Bangladesh's request. The government's efforts to extradite him or ensure his legal accountability are ongoing.
