A moving car carrying a businessman and newspaper editor was targeted by assailants on a motorcycle early Wednesday on the Chattogram-Rangamati highway in Bangladesh. The attack occurred around 12:15 a.m. in the Charabattala area of Mekhal union.

The victim, SM Shahidullah Rony, editor of Dainik Priyo Shomoy, was driving himself back to his home from Chattogram city when two individuals on a motorcycle blocked his path. They reportedly threw a brick at his vehicle and fired three shots. The bullets struck the rear of the car, but Rony escaped injury.

Rony told reporters that the attackers likely believed he was in the back seat, as his driver typically occupies that position. "Today I was driving the car myself. He also mentioned having business disputes with several individuals and noted a previous attack on his house. Kazi Tarek Aziz, additional superintendent of police for Hathazari Circle, visited the scene. "The victim told us he has disputes with several people. We are investigating the incident and trying to identify those involved," Aziz stated.
