The measles outbreak continues to claim lives, with eight more children succumbing to measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 a.m. today. This brings the nation's grim total of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths for the year to 902.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all eight recent fatalities as suspected measles deaths. The cumulative number of suspected measles deaths now stands at 803, while the number of confirmed deaths remains at 99. In the same 24-hour period, 728 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, pushing the total number of suspected cases to 141,776. Additionally, 70 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total laboratory-confirmed infections to 17,800.

Data from the DGHS indicates that since March 15, a total of 123,494 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of these, a significant majority, 119,089 patients, have since recovered and been discharged.
